New caregivers go through an extensive screening process which includes DMV and a criminal background check, reference-checks, and health screening.

We have a pool of caregivers that are there to fill in when these situations occur.
Your caregiver will be able to help remind you to take your medications; however, they are not allowed to physically administer any medications to you. One thing we have found to be helpful is for you to have a family member set up a pill organizer. Although your caregiver is not allowed to load the pill box, they can remind you if you have forgotten to take your medication.
If you are contracting with Caring Hands Caregivers for 24 hour care then, yes, the caregiver does stay in your home. We do request that, if possible, the caregiver does have his/her own room. Caregivers typically bring only the clothes and supplies they will need for the shift they are covering.
Being a smaller agency helps greatly in this area. When a new client is brought on board, we leave a Care Log on site. The caregiver uses the log to capture the information on the daily care of the individual as outlined in the initial Care and Communication plan. The log is reviewed on a regular basis to ensure the level of care is on track with goals of the family. Also, the General Manager of the agency will make both scheduled and surprise visits to the client to ensure the quality of care is being delivered.
Caring Hands will bill you on the 1st and 15th of each month for the services provided during the prior period. You just confirm the billing amount is correct and pay Caring Hands directly.
Most medical insurance plans do not pay for private duty services like those offered by Caring Hands Caregivers. However, Long Term Care Insurance companies often do pay for these services. If you have one of these plans, we will be happy to assist you in getting reimbursed. Also, if the client is a veteran of one of the armed forces, there are possible benefits available. Just ask and we will help you initiate the process of applying for these benefits.
Original Medicare does not cover non-medical home care, such as help with bathing, when that’s the only care needed. Long-term care insurance often does, depending on your policy. Our team will help you understand your coverage and provide the documentation you need.
In most cases, we aim for a first shower visit within 5 business days of your intake call. High-priority hospital discharges can often be accommodated within 48 hours.
Refusal is common at first, and it’s often temporary. Our team will pause, listen, and adjust. Sometimes the answer is a different time of day, a different caregiver match, or a new way of introducing the visit. This service has to work for the person receiving it, and we’ll work with you until it does. Our guide on what to do when a parent refuses help may also be useful.
Yes, and many families do, but only when they’re ready. Virtual Caregiver monitoring is often the first add-on for families who want 24/7 peace of mind between visits. Hourly care can be added at any time, usually with the same caregivers who already know your parent.
Every caregiver who provides our shower service is trained specifically in dementia care. They know how to pace the visit, offer gentle cues, avoid moments that can lead to agitation, and protect your parent’s dignity from start to finish. Many seniors are comfortable with it because it’s specific and time-limited, and it often becomes a gentle first step toward having more help available if and when it’s needed.
Many home care agencies require a 3- or 4-hour minimum shift, even when your parent only needs help with a shower. Our in-home shower service is exactly one hour, focused on exactly what your parent needs. You pay for the help you actually use, and nothing more.
